Manufactured by Alpitronic, the HYC400 charger is the first to achieve UL certification in Europe under UL 2202, the standard for DC charging equipment for electric vehicles. This certification marks Alpitronic’s entry into the North American market.

At its EV Charging Test Centre in Neu-Isenburg, UL Solutions tested and evaluated the HYC400 for compliance with safety and performance standards, including power verification, temperature, high voltage, and moisture. It also underwent personal protection testing to ensure user safety. The 400 kW charger can significantly reduce charging time, a key factor in supporting widespread EV adoption.

As EV demand rises globally, the number of public charging points has increased, with a focus on expanding fast chargers and improving charging networks' accessibility. Governments are implementing policies to boost EV adoption by 2030, further driving the growth of charging infrastructure.

UL Solutions’ certification of the HYC400 supports this growth by ensuring the safety and reliability of fast charging technology. Its global network of testing facilities, including locations in Germany, Spain, the US, China, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, is critical in advancing the electrification of transportation.

Recently, UL Solutions expanded its battery testing capabilities with the opening of the North America Advanced Battery Laboratory in Michigan, one of the largest such facilities in North America.
