The charger is exclusively available on Utility’s 3000R refrigerated trailers equipped with Cargobull’s ultra-low-emission TRUs. It keeps liftgate batteries charged, delivering up to 40 amps or 480 watts of power. It operates separately from the TRUs’ starting battery charger, ensuring optimum charge conditions for the liftgate. Located near the liftgate battery pack, the system routes 480 volts through a protected conduit, safeguarding against wear.

Steve Bennett, Utility Trailer President and COO, highlighted the charger’s benefits: “For routes with frequent liftgate use, keeping batteries fully charged can significantly extend their lifespan, potentially doubling or even quadrupling it. Running batteries down consistently shortens their life, sometimes to as little as six months.”

Traditionally, liftgate batteries rely on truck cabs for power, but this often results in low charging voltage. The new system avoids this issue by providing a consistent charge near the battery pack. Unlike alternatives like solar cells, which have limitations, this system offers a reliable solution.

The Cargobull Liftgate Battery Charger is now available at Utility Trailer sales and service centres as part of the 3000R refrigerated trailers with Cargobull 625 and 655MT Hybrid TRUs.
