This innovation eliminates the need for RFID cards, bank cards, and mobile apps, offering automatic authentication and payment when an EV is plugged in.

Guillaume Goijen, director of charging solutions at Allego, said, "Plug & Charge streamlines charging and ensures secure sessions with certificate-based authentication and encrypted communication." Built on the OCPP 2.0.1 protocol, Allego's solution offers enhanced security and future compatibility.

Collaborating with partners like Alpitronic and Ford, Allego aims to simplify EV charging and promote adoption. Joerg Hofmeister, Ford’s European Head of Charging, praised the initiative for making EV ownership more convenient, while Wolfgang Ademmer, CMO of Alpitronic, emphasised the importance of security and convenience.

The phased rollout will begin in the Netherlands and Germany, expanding across Europe, further solidifying Allego’s leadership in the e-mobility sector.
