These EVBox Iqon Level 2 chargers will provide EV drivers with convenient access to charging at Illinois state parks, historic sites, museums, beaches, and other public areas.

Governor Pritzker, the IDNR, and local leadership announced the donation, marking a significant milestone in expanding EV infrastructure in Illinois. Visitors will be able to charge their electric vehicles while enjoying the state's parks and attractions.

EVBox, based in Libertyville, teamed up with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and the IDNR to develop a plan to boost charging station availability statewide. These are the first EV chargers made available for public use by the State of Illinois, with no fees for drivers.

Three charging stations have been installed at state parks near St. Louis, with additional sites planned, including Starved Rock, Giant City, and Shabbona Lake. Illinois joins other states in offering EV charging at state parks, reinforcing its climate action plan goals for zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

"EVBox proudly supports Illinois' commitment to addressing the evolving needs of its residents by expanding access to EV chargers," the company said. "Investing in charging infrastructure is essential as electric vehicles become increasingly common, making it easier for communities to transition to electric mobility."
