London EV Show: Role of government in EV charging infrastructure ‘necessarily changing’

The role of the Scottish government in decarbonizing transportation is “necessarily changing” – and so is that of the private sector.

That was one of the key messages from Matthew Eastwood, head of EV infrastructure at Transport Scotland, at the 4th London EV Show.

Scotland began investing in public EV charging infrastructure in 2011, ahead of demand, and has spent £65m of public money on it since then, Eastwood said. 

“As a direct result of early investment, Scotland has one of the most comprehensive charging networks of any part of the UK, apart from London,” he explained.
