This is the fourth hub to be opened in Europe and the first of 10 planned in Sweden, aimed at building Europe’s largest public electric charging network for heavy-duty vehicles. The next hubs will open in Åstorp and Ödeshög later this year.
Located on the TEN-T Scandinavia-Mediterranean corridor near exit 55 of the E6 motorway, the Varberg hub is a key stop for hauliers and heavy-duty vehicle drivers. It features eight charging bays with four high-performance Combined Charging System (CCS) chargers, each offering up to 400 kW of power. A second phase, launching in 2025, will add more bays and faster Megawatt Charging System (MCS) chargers.
Milence hubs are open to all truck brands and provide amenities for drivers, including a lounge, showers, toilets, and secure parking with Wi-Fi. The company has partnered with various e-Mobility Service Providers (eMSPs) to ensure seamless payment across platforms. Payments can also be made via the Milence app or bank cards.
“Sweden is one of the leading countries in Europe when it comes to sustainability and energy transition, where electric road transport is a reality today,” said Anja van Niersen, Milence CEO. “With 10 charging hubs under development and three to open by the end of the year, this is one of our key markets and fleet operators can now start using the Milence network.”
