Located off the Harbor Freeway in Los Angeles on Denker Avenue, near Interstate 405 and State Route 91, the Denker charging depot can charge up to 96 EV trucks simultaneously. Performance Team will use its fleet of Volvo VNR electric trucks, which have a range of 240 miles and can charge up to 80% in 90 minutes.

California aims to end the sale of diesel trucks and switch to electric drayage trucks by 2035 and electric heavy-duty trucks by 2045. To support these goals, Prologis and Performance Team are investing in innovative charging infrastructure. The Denker depot features a microgrid, developed with Mainspring Energy, using 2.75 MW of fuel-flexible, hydrogen-ready linear generators and 18 MWh of batteries, providing up to 9 MW of charging capacity. This solution helps get trucks on the road faster, bypassing potential delays from electrical grid upgrades.

With 20,000 trucks serving the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, collaboration between government, regulators, and private industry is essential for the transition to electric trucks. Prologis and Performance Team expedited the project with the support of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, the city of Los Angeles, and Southern California Gas Co.

The Denker depot is the third Southern California EV charging project by Prologis Mobility and Performance Team, following facilities in Santa Fe Springs and Commerce, which provide four MW of charging capacity for 38 electric trucks.
