Each high-powered point can deliver a full charge in 20 to 40 minutes. Cheltenham Borough Council has finalised contracts with The EV Network to lease land for construction and to manage the sites.

This development is part of Cheltenham’s push towards becoming a carbon-neutral town by 2030, as outlined in its Carbon Neutral Cheltenham report. The report highlighted the importance of expanding EV charging infrastructure to replace internal combustion engine vehicles.

The hubs, located in key car parks across the town, aim to provide accessible, reliable, and rapid 300kW charging. The November launch is timed to coincide with the busy festive period, including the Cheltenham Christmas ice rink.

The EV Network, a major provider of EV infrastructure, has successfully implemented projects across the UK, including one of Europe’s largest charging hubs at NEC Birmingham. Cheltenham’s first three hubs will be situated at St James Street, Bath Terrace, and Church Piece car parks, with additional sites planned for 2025.For more information about the council’s climate emergency work.
