UK environment secretary opens ultra-rapid EV charging station

UK environment secretary, Therese Coffey has officially opened European rapid charging company Fastned’s latest ultra-rapid electric vehicle chargingstation in Martlesham, Suffolk.

The new station, based off the A12 at Martlesham Park & Ride, initially has six charging bays offering up to 300kW of renewable power, providing electric vehicles with up to 300 miles of range in as little as 20 minutes. The station is Fastned’s 14th in the UK; and 250th station across Europe.

The new station features a highly visible solar canopy that helps EV drivers to locate the site and stay dry while charging. Reliable and easy-to-use ultra-rapid chargers, as well as a range of payment methods, mean drivers can charge easily and with confidence and get back on the road as quickly as possible. Martlesham Park & Ride has a number of facilities, including a terminal building with a heated waiting area, local information points and toilets/baby change facilities.
