Launched in 2022, the US program celebrates leaders in deployment excellence, recognising EV Charging Heroes from all areas of the EV charging ecosystem based on an evaluation of their commitment to fast charger deployment via innovative actions, partnerships, and proven results.
The 2023 awardees of the National EV Charging Recognition Program consist of leading site hosts, utility companies, government departments, and contractors. Criteria for each sector was published in December, and all awardees submitted for the program by providing materials such as publicly available educational resources, safety data, public commitments to fast charger installation, and concrete results. All EV Charging Heroes will receive a digital certificate to memorialise their critical efforts and accomplishments toward widespread EV adoption. They will also be highlighted on the Connect the Watts Recognition Program page and featured in an upcoming blog post from EVgo.
This year’s awardees, organised by sector, include:
Site Hosts: Target
Utilities: Oncor
Government: City of San Diego Development Services Department
Contractors: Brytemove Energy; Core States Group; Mach 1 Electric; OWL Services; PAR Western Line Contractors; Westwood Professional Services; and WB Engineers+Consultants.
EVgo’s Connect the Watts initiative unites hundreds of stakeholders who are critical to accelerating the deployment of reliable EV charging infrastructure across the US. Based on lessons learned deploying fast charging over the last 10+ years, EVgo has produced best practices guides for charging infrastructure program design, utilities, local permitting, public funding, charger reliability, the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program, make-ready programs, local zoning codes, and vehicle interoperability, with the goal of streamlining the process of charger deployment from start to finish.
