School teachers and EV drivers can charge their electric cars with 1,407 sockets now outside schools and colleges in the UK.

There were 73,334 public EV charging devices installed in the UK as of 1 January 2025, an increase of 37% (19,657 devices) since 1 January 2024.

The UK automotive and charging industries have been invited to shape the UK’s transition to zero emission vehicles, as the UK government works with the sector to harness the huge opportunities for economic growth and improve living standards for working people.

The UK government says it is committed to reinstating the 2030 phase out of cars solely powered by internal combustion engines and the delivering the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) transition in a way that also supports UK economic growth.

As part of the US government's Investing in America agenda, the Department of Energy (DOE) has announced over US$3bn for 25 selected projects across 14 states to boost the domestic production of advanced batteries and battery materials nationwide.

New measures to support the UK’s EV drivers have been announced by the government.
