In Germany, the first two A400 chargers have been installed at Dachser logistics sites as part of the Early Adopter Program (EAP). The A400, capable of delivering up to 400 kW of power, was designed with uptime and reliability in mind - critical features for logistics operations that depend on efficient and timely delivery.
One A400 was installed at Dachser's Dortmund logistics centre which services an inner-city area exclusively with battery-electric vehicles as part of Dachser's emission-free delivery initiative. The second site in Nuremberg, a key facility for food logistics, will see the A400 charging electric trucks serving a wide network of retailers, hotels, and other businesses. A third installation is planned for Dachser's Malsch site, where the company explores zero-emission drive technologies and smart energy management solutions.
Across the Atlantic, ABB E-mobility has also installed the first A400 charger in North America, at the headquarters of ITD Industries in Etobicoke, Ontario. ITD, an industry leader in transportation equipment and the exclusive dealer for Nikola Motors and Zo Motors in Canada, will use the A400 to support its electric fleet operations.
"By targeting the highest uptime and charging success rates with the A400, we are establishing a new, higher industry standard and redefining what's possible," said Brandt Hastings, president of North America for ABB E-mobility. "Together with our partners, we are delivering the most advanced, seamless, and reliable solutions available."
The field deployments in Germany and Canada will provide invaluable data to help ABB E-mobility fine-tune the A400 to better meet the needs of fleet operators and accelerate the adoption of electrified mobility. As the transportation sector continues its transition to zero emissions, partnerships and innovative charging solutions will be crucial to supporting this evolution.
