The instalation was carried out in collaboration with Florida Power & Light Company’s (FPL) EVolution commercial charging solutions and ABB.

NASCAR says this signifies a step forward in the organization’s commitment to sustainability through NASCAR IMPACT, a plan that aims to reduce NASCAR’s carbon footprint to zero across NASCAR core operations by 2035. The new EV chargers are for employee and industry use and will facilitate NASCAR's transition to electric fleet vehicles.

“NASCAR has made material commitments to sustainable operations across its entire business,” said Riley Nelson, head of sustainability at NASCAR. “FPL and ABB will provide NASCAR with valuable guidance, reliable equipment and the support needed to electrify key elements of our operation.”

Operating emissions are the emissions that come from sources that NASCAR controls or that are associated with the company’s purchased electricity. Moving operations from scope 1 (fuel burned) to scope 2 (electric) is a critical element of NASCAR’s sustainability strategy.

“NASCAR is leading the way on electrification and Daytona is another significant step forward. Electrifying real estate like parking at NASCAR headquarters puts these assets to work, accelerating the transition to sustainable mobility,” said John Stahlbusch, vice president of sales, North America at ABB E-mobility, and founding partner of NASCAR IMPACT.

“ABB helps industries run leaner and cleaner,” said Khalid Mandri, ABB division president. “The ABB NASCAR Electrification Partnership explores strategic opportunities for electrification throughout the sport, including race vehicles, charging infrastructure, and energy education.”

FPL provided the level 2 chargers for the Daytona Speedway headquarters through its tailored FPL EVolution commercial charging solutions, helping NASCAR add 30 EV charging ports to its facility.

“We’re excited to work with NASCAR and Daytona International Speedway to deliver fast, reliable EV charging solutions for its employees and other EV drivers at its headquarters,” said Crystal Stiles, executive director for Distributed Technologies and Mobility at FPL.

The installation of EV chargers is one of many initiatives under the NASCAR IMPACT program. NASCAR is exploring sustainable racing fuels, expanded recycling programs at tracks, and energy-efficient technologies at its facilities. These efforts reflect the organization’s long-term vision to make motorsports more environmentally sustainable.
