The collaboration allows energy providers using Emulate to leverage EV charging flexibility for grid balancing, peak demand reduction, and improved reliability. By expanding EV support across multiple models, Emulate enables providers to harness EVs as valuable energy resources.
Smartcar's technology helps Emulate automate EV data retrieval to optimise charging schedules based on pricing factors. Consumers can set charging preferences through the software, with Emulate managing the implementation automatically.
"Emulate aspires to connect to and control every energy device possible. While controls and market participation are our bread-and-butter, for EVs specifically, Smartcar makes it super easy to connect to vehicles regardless of manufacturer and model," says Blake Davis, senior director of US operations at Emulate.
The partnership provides compatibility with over 35 EV brands through Smartcar's seamless integration into Emulate's vehicle onboarding solution. Smartcar's developer tools and webhooks enable Emulate's engineering team to receive regular data while reducing server loads and latency.
This collaboration aims to increase EV participation in demand response programs by simplifying onboarding processes, improving reliability, and enhancing user experience.
