Industry groups the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), EV charging association ChargeUp Europe and smart energy group SmartEN are calling on policy makers in the European Union to ensure the effective functioning of the bidirectional charging market and stimulate user uptake.
In a statement the groups said that green and digital transformation presents both challenges and opportunities for the automotive sector.
They added: "As the role of EVs expands, the concept of bidirectional charging—vehicle-to-grid (V2G), vehicle-to-home (V2H), and vehicle-to-everything (V2X)—becomes crucial to managing the energy demands of the transition to zero-emissions mobility.
"However, number of regulatory challenges hinder the development of effective business models, necessitating in-depth discussions on the roles and responsibilities of emerging market players."
