With the vision to become the leading producer and seller of CO2-aware energy, St1 Energy researches, develops, produces and invests in the energy transition sector to be able to provide its customers with CO2-aware energy. The company is also owner of Shell’s brand licence rights for the retail business in Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

Kempower will become one of the DC fast charging solutions providers for St1. The first project in this far-reaching partnership was establishing EV fast charging at a new 24-hour operating energy station named Shell Lonelier just outside the Norwegian city of Kristiansand in the summer of 2023. Strategically located on the E39 highway to serve traffic travelling toward Kristiansand’s ferry port and routes toward east Norway, the energy station is well-positioned to cater for the growing number of commercial electric fleets in the region.

St1’s energy station features 16 high power Kempower Satellite charging points and solar panels on the roof. In addition, it also offers liquid fuels to cater for all types of traffic that passes through the busy area while reserving space for the construction of further sustainable energy solutions in the future. Additional facilities include outdoor exercise equipment, a dog park, seating areas, and a large rest area for bus and truck drivers.

“Our new partnership with Kempower will support St1 in building its own EV charging network and positively differentiate our sites in the rapidly developing EV charging landscape in the Nordics,” said Oscar Sandström, St1’s director of strategy and energy transition. “This project marks the beginning of our partnership - we are already working on exciting plans for further expansion in Norway, Finland, and Sweden with the aim to become a major player in the Scandinavian electrification journey.”
