Asko is Norway’s largest grocery wholesaler and part of NorgesGruppen, a Norwegian grocery wholesaling group that also runs various retail outlets. Sustainability is a central component of the company’s business strategy, and it aims to have emission-free transport by 2026, including electrifying its fleet of approximately 700 trucks.
Through the new framework agreement, Asko will have access to Kempower’s full solution portfolio of distributed charging systems with Kempower satellites and Kempower power units, stand-alone Kempower station chargers, and the cloud-based charging management software Kempower ChargEye for Depot. Additionally, there is the potential to extend the partnership further in the future to include the provision of chargers for NorgesGruppen’s range of approximately 1,800 Norwegian grocery stores.
The two companies signed the comprehensive agreement after Asko successfully tested the Kempower charging system at one of its depots in Norway in 2022. To date, Kempower has delivered chargers to two sites and seven more are being installed this year. By the end of 2023, more than 80 Kempower fast charging plugs will be available at nine Asko locations, covering the entire length of Norway, from Lillesand in the south of Norway to Tromsø in the north.
