Eichrecht is a German and Austrian calibration law that requires all components involved in the collection and processing of energy to operate in a trustworthy and transparent way. The aim of Eichrecht is to protect electricity consumers. Becoming Eichrecht-compliant will enable Kempower to work with customers offering public EV charging in Germany and Austria. The certificate, granted by the NMi certifying body, covers the company's charging satellite system, including Kempower Satellite and Kempower Power Unit.

The German government plans to have 15 million fully electric passenger cars on its roads by 2030 to reduce high greenhouse gas emissions from its transportation sector. However, the current lack of reliable charging availability is one of the biggest challenges in meeting this goal. In late 2022, the government announced a charging infrastructure master plan to address this issue, which would see one million charging points installed across the country by the end of the decade.

“It’s fantastic to confirm that Kempower is now Eichrecht-compliant,” said Kempower’s chief market officer Jussi Vanhanen. “The certificate enhances consumer protection and ensures a transparent and reliable charging experience. Thanks to the certificate, EV drivers can be confident that they are paying for the right amount of energy charged when charging with our solutions.”

Kempower offers one of the fastest EV charging solutions on today’s market, prioritising user experience, scalability, and reliability, with EV charging station uptime of over 99 %. The Kempower Satellite charging system is designed in a distributed fashion, featuring separate Kempower Power Units and Kempower Satellite charging points, which can be placed up to 80 metres away from the power units. The system can be easily installed in limited space and its innovative cable management solution makes handling the heavy charging cable effortless and easy for EV drivers.

The dynamic charging feature of Kempower chargers allows the station’s charging capacity to be shared between EVs and optimises charging curves. It enables chargers to take full advantage of higher-voltage batteries, resulting in even faster charging times for customers and minimising queues at the charging station. This and many other features, such as the mobile charging curve, are enabled by the Kempower ChargEye software.
