This innovation increases charging efficiency, boasting a power factor of up to 0.99, which reduces electrical infrastructure costs while delivering the same charging power to electric vehicles. Kempower has already begun delivering the Power Module V2 to customers in Europe and has now published comprehensive test results on the platform’s performance.
Tests from Kempower’s laboratories and independent third-party labs show the next-generation charger platform achieves superior efficiency of over 95% at full load, a power factor of over 0.99, and low total harmonic distortion (THD) of under 3%. These advancements result in better thermal management, reliability, and reduced current harmonics, all of which enhance electrical compatibility with existing site locations and increase grid resilience for large EV charger deployments.
According to Kempower's chief market officer, Jussi Vanhanen, the platform is a grid-friendly solution with low harmonics and a high power factor, contributing to reduced power loss and increased profitability for charging businesses. Deliveries of the new charger technology began in early 2024 in Europe, with North American deliveries planned for late 2024. Kempower will scale production from facilities in Lahti, Finland, and North Carolina, USA.
